Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) is blasting the Supreme Court after it rolled back an environmental regulation.

On Thursday, Schumer wrote, “This MAGA Supreme Court is continuing to erode our country’s environmental laws. Make no mistake—this ruling will mean more polluted water, and more destruction of wetlands.”

“We’ll keep fighting to protect our waters,” he added.

This MAGA Supreme Court is continuing to erode our country’s environmental laws.

Make no mistake—this ruling will mean more polluted water, and more destruction of wetlands.

We’ll keep fighting to protect our waters. https://t.co/wlp1LTvZJB

The Supreme Court does have a 6-3 conservative majority.

But, Twitter users were quick to point out an issue with Schumer calling the court “MAGA” as they noted the ruling was unanimous — and included votes from justices appointed by Democratic presidents.

Check out some of the reactions below:

Bro it was unanimous

It was unanimous. Biden’s pick and obama’s picks all sided with the majority

9-0, genius.

— StopBSWokeCulture 🇺🇸 (@MkayUokay) May 25, 2023

This is a hell of a lie. It's unanimous. That means KJB, Soto, Kagan, too. https://t.co/UgFil7Rc7K

Fact check:

1. The WOTUS ruling was 9-0.
2. There are 3 Democrat appointed Justices on the Supreme Court — ALL voting against this rule. https://t.co/xjuB7D3EbX

Ah yes, that notable MAGA justice…*checks notes*…Sonia Sotomayor https://t.co/P3OhJcmRJM

It was 9-0, Chuck. Are you calling Obama's and Biden's picks 'MAGA'?

Weird. https://t.co/GuyGgHf0VY

This was a 9-0 decision.

Meaning that all nine members of the Supreme Court – appointed by both Democrat and Republican Administrations – agreed that WOTUS has overused their power. https://t.co/x2BWeiYRbJ

The Washington Post notes the ruling “cut back the power of the Environmental Protection Agency to regulate the nation’s wetlands and waterways, another setback for the agency’s authority to combat pollution.”

“Nearly two decades ago, the court ruled that wetlands are protected by the Clean Water Act if they have a ‘significant nexus’ to regulated waters. Property rights and business groups wanted to narrow regulations to wetlands and other areas directly connected to ‘navigable waters’ such as rivers and lakes,” it added.

The majority opinion penned by Justice Samuel Alito found the Environmental Protection Agency’s interpretation of its power in the Clean Water Act was too broad.
