Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) is facing a resolution to expel him from the House of Representatives.

On Wednesday, Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-Fla.) filed a resolution to expel Schiff for claims he made about allegations members of former President Donald Trump’s 2016 campaign colluded with Russian operatives.

“Knowingly using your position on House Intel to push a lie that ripped apart our country, cost taxpayers millions of dollars, and authorized spying on a US President and then proceeding to double down on the lie within days of the Durham report coming out makes you unfit for office,” Luna wrote.

She added, “Ethics should investigate.”

The resolution comes after Special Counsel John Durham released his report detailing the conclusions of his investigation of the FBI’s Russia probe.

His report concluded the investigation was launched without a proper basis. It also laid out a series of criticisms about the FBI.

After Durham’s report was released, Schiff told MSNBC the investigation was “started in a flawed manner, it was conducted in a flawed manner, and its conclusion is a flawed conclusion.”

He also insisted it was a “wasted effort” and “four years of undermining the Department [of justice] and a political prosecution.”

The California Democrat had previously claimed he had evidence members of the Trump campaign colluded with Russian operatives ahead of the 2016 election.

During an appearance on CNN in February, he defended his assertion as he said, “If you read the Mueller report, he makes clear even in the first few pages of the report that he states no conclusion on whether Donald Trump and his campaign colluded with the Russians.”

He went on to note former Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation found Trump’s campaign manager shared internal polling data with a Russian operative and added, “To most Americans, that is collusion. Now, whether it’s proof beyond a reasonable doubt of the crime of conspiracy — that’s what Bob Mueller was talking about — I have always distinguished between the two.”

Earlier this year, House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) blocked Schiff, the former intelligence committee chairman, from continuing to serve on the panel.

He argued Schiff “lied to the American public” during his time on the committee.

In case you missed it:

Holy shit. Kevin McCarthy just absolutely destroyed a reporter who questioned his decision to remove Schiff and Swalwell from the intel committee.

Total annihilation.

The House speaker also noted Schiff does not “have a right” to be on the intelligence committee. McCarthy added he would allow the California Democrat to serve on other committees.
