LSU basketball player Angel Reese laughed at First Lady Jill Biden’s offer for the opposing team to visit the White House.

Reese took to Twitter to react to an article published by ESPN titled, “Jill Biden wants LSU and Iowa at the White House.”

She replied, “A JOKE,” with laughing emojis.

Her tweet sparked thousands of reactions, with Rep. Cori Bush (D-Mo.) tweeting, “CAN LSU PLEASE JUST HAVE THEIR MOMENT? When Black women lead, folks start moving the goalpost and changing the rules. No. Iowa played a good game, but let the LSU players be celebrated as highly as other winning championship teams. We understand being courteous, but don’t do this.”

Sports radio host Stephen Smith responded, “I mean absolutely zero disrespect to the First Lady, but you are 1000% correct. That is a bad suggestion. Runner-ups don’t get invited to the White House. Why are we trying to change it now? I completely agree with you, Angel.”

Journalist Carmine Sabia called Biden’s suggestion a “joke,” adding, “Sorry Joe Biden only the winners go to the White House. Only the winners to get the trophy. Stop rewarding people for not winning. This is why people have no ambition anymore.”

Reese made headlines recently over a gesture she made to Iowa Hawkeyes player Caitlin Clark during the NCAA women’s basketball national championship on Sunday.

After receiving backlash, she defended the move, saying, “I don’t take disrespect lightly.”

According to Reese, “All year, I was critiqued for who I was. I don’t fit the narrative. I don’t fit the box that y’all want me to be in. I’m too hood. I’m too ghetto. Y’all told me that all year. But when other people do it, and y’all don’t say nothing.”

She continued, “So this is for the girls that look like me. For those that want to speak up for what they believe in. It’s unapologetically you. And that’s what I did it for tonight. It was bigger than me tonight. And Twitter is going to go into a rage every time.”

LSU defeated Iowa 102-85.
