“The View” co-host Sunny Hostin is taking issue with people claiming mass shootings are a mental health issue instead of a gun issue.

While the co-hosts were discussing the shooting at a Christian school in Nashville, Tennessee, Hostin brought up those who talk about mental health after mass shootings.

“I have so many mentally ill people in my family,” she began on Wednesday.

She continued, “They are more likely to be the victims of crime than be criminals. That is a fact, and it has been studied in this country for 60 years.”

“So I’m so sick of people conveniently saying, ‘This is a mental health issue,’ or, ‘You can’t look at this issue without mental health.’ This is an AR-15-style weapon issue,” she added.

Conservative co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin spoke over her as she tried to ask her fellow co-host if she believed the shooter in Nashville was “of sound mind.”

Hostin shot back, “That is not the point.”

Watch the video below:

“The point is if she did not have access to these weapons, those three 9-year-olds would be in school today,” she added.

Sunny Hostin denies THE FACT that mentally ill people carry out mass shootings.

Meanwhile, co-host Sara Haines argued Griffin was “making an important point to say two things can be true.”

However, Hostin responded, “Why is it, like Joy was saying, why is it they have a lot of mental illness in Japan. They’ve got mental illnness all over the country.”

“But guess what, this is not happening,” she added.

Metro Nashville Police Chief John Drake said on Tuesday the suspect in the shooting at The Covenant School in Nashville, identified as Audrey Hale, legally bought seven firearms and hid them at home from Oct. 20, 2020, to June 6, 2022.

Three of those guns were used in the shooting.

Hale’s parents reportedly felt their child “should not own weapons.”

Drake added the shooter was receiving care for an emotional disorder.
