A podcast host for The Daily Wire had his Twitter account suspended after he shared a Bible verse.

On Monday, conservative commentator Michael Knowles shared Romans 12:19, which reads, “Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, ‘Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.’”

In a post on Instagram, Knowles wrote, “I’ve been suspended from [Twitter] for quoting the Bible. Specifically, I quoted a verse urging people not to take vengeance.”

He shared a screen shot of an email from Twitter that revealed his account had been locked.

It explained Twitter found his tweet violated the company’s “rules against violent speech.”

“You may not share abusive content, harass someone, or encourage other people to do so,” the rule stated.

In order to unlock the account, it told Knowles to delete the tweet.

The Daily Wire’s Matt Walsh shared the screen shot of the email and wrote, “Attn: [Elon Musk], Michael Knowles was suspended for posting a Bible verse. I assume this was a mistake.”

“Can we get his account restored asap?” he asked.

Scott Morefield, a columnist for Townhall, tweeted, “As bad as the leftist hall monitors are, this is too absurd to have been a human. It must have been some sort of bot. Why are bots still ‘moderating’ content under the new ownership?”

Commentator Rich Baris tweeted, “Romans 12:19 is the opposite of this new fake idea of ‘violent speech’. It explicitly tells people NOT to take vengeance, leave it to God.”

“Of course, why would we expect anything else from a cubicle techie in a secular industry. Probably just good ole’ fashion ignorance, not that it makes it right or better,” he added.

According to The Daily Wire, Knowles linked to an article about transgender activists calling for a “Day of Vengeance” in Nashville, Tennessee.

The event was previously planned to take place the same week as a shooting at a Christian school in Nashville.
