A former Google employee’s video went viral after she made an announcement about her job.

Nicole Tsai posted her experience before and after the announcement on TikTok.

During one of her videos, she documented a day in the life of working at the Los Angeles office.

The video featured free food, art installations, extravagant rooms where she could take meetings, and massage chairs.

The next video detailed her experience being laid off by Google.

After receiving a text from her boss, Tsai rushed to her computer and discovered the news of Google’s layoffs as well as her loss of access to accounts.

Tsai suggested the “worst part was that it seems like no one was consulted on this decision.”

She recalled opening LinkedIn and realizing there were a lot of individuals in the same boat.

“I spent so much of the day crying that I just felt so tired from being sad and honestly just wanted to do something that would make me feel better,” Tsai said.

The former Google employee shared she did not know what was next but would continue documenting the journey.

Still, users on Twitter reacted to the video by mocking tech employees for seemingly doing little to no work.

One tweet reads, “In the first part of the video she mentioned getting some work done but we never actually see her working.”

Tsai worked in partner services for Google’s cloud unit since 2021, Fortune reported.

Google CEO Sundar Pichai held a companywide meeting to discuss the layoffs.

“I understand you are worried about what comes next for your work,” Pichai said Monday.

He added, “Also very sad for the loss of some really good colleagues across the company. For those of you outside the U.S., the delay in being able to make and communicate decisions about roles in your region is undoubtedly causing anxiety.”

Fiona Cicconi, Google’s chief people officer, said during the meeting the company considered “skill set, time in role where experience or relationships are relevant and matter, productivity indicators like sales quotas and performance history.”
