Lisa Marie Presley — the only child of Elvis and Priscilla Presley — said her father would be “very proud” of the 2022 “Elvis” film.
On Jan. 8, she spoke at a Golden Globes pre-party about actor Austin Butler’s portrayal of her father in the movie. Jan. 8 also happened to be the same day as Elvis Presley’s birthday.
The film’s director Baz Luhrmann, Austin Butler, and Lisa Marie Presley’s daughter, Riley Keough, were also in attendance.
“I just want to thank you for coming. I’m so overwhelmed by this film and the effect that it’s had and what Baz has done, what Austin has done. I’m so proud and I know that my father would also be very proud,” she said.
She also thanked everyone “for being here.”
“I — I’m so overwhelmed with gratitude, so thank you,” she added.
Butler was nominated for Best Actor in a Drama Motion Picture for “Elvis” and won at the 2023 Golden Globes on Tuesday.

During her last public appearance at the 2023 Golden Globes, Lisa Marie Presley continued to gush over the movie and called Austin Butler’s portayal of her father “truly mind blowing”
“It was mind blowing. Truly mind blowing. I really didn’t know what to do with myself after I saw it. I had to take like five days to process it because it was so incredible and so spot on and so authentic. That I can’t even describe what it meant,” she told “Entertainment Tonight.”
Lisa Marie Presley died on Thursday after going into cardiac arrest. She was 54 years old.
Her mother, Priscilla Presley, confirmed the news in a statement to People.
“It is with a heavy heart that I must share the devastating news that my beautiful daughter Lisa Marie has left us. She was the most passionate strong and loving woman I have ever known. We ask for privacy as we try to deal with this profound loss,” she said.
