The proposal to put a bust of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in the U.S. Capitol is not garnering positive reactions from everyone.

Rep. Joe Wilson (R-S.C.) introduced a resolution earlier this week to direct the Fine Arts Board to obtain a bust of Ukraine’s president “for display in the House of Representatives wing of the United States Capitol.”

The resolution explains, “Resolved, That the House of Representatives directs the Fine Arts Board to obtain a bust of the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, for display in a suitable, permanent location in the House of Representatives wing of the United States Capitol.”

Several users spoke out against the resolution on Twitter.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) tweeted, “Absolutely NOT! We serve AMERICA NOT UKRAINE!”

Republican Lavern Spicer wrote, “A Republican Congressman wants to use taxpayer funds to install a bust of Zelenskyy in the US Capitol. Joe Wilson of South Carolina needs a primary challenge. This ad writes itself.”

She added, “What an absolute disgrace of a bill this is.”

Writer Brigitte Gabriel declared it is “deranged to introduce a bill in support of a Volodymyr Zelenskyy bust inside the US Capitol building.”

Newsmax’s DeAnna Lorraine suggested if “you’re a Republican but you sponsor legislation to put a bust of Zelenskyy in the US Capitol, you’re a pathetic RINO.”

Looking at you @RepJoeWilson.

There is now a House resolution that seeks to put a display of Zelenskyy's head in the US Capitol.

Was the $100+ billion to Ukraine not enough?

— Rep Andy Biggs (@RepAndyBiggsAZ) January 11, 2023

This dude put legislation in for a bust of Zelensky permanently installed in the House of Reps part of the Capital?

You sir, sound like a RINO. An “America Last” Politician. American Taxpayers are being conscripted to pay for a foreign government’s war.https://t.co/McOnFsYDWr

If you had any faith left in the US govt's credibility, this proposal — which sounds like a piece from the Babylon Bee but is actually real — should remove the rest of it. The proposal comes as the U.S. approved a nearly $3.8 billion assistance package for Ukraine and European allies.

Zelenskyy appears to be confident that Ukraine will defeat Russia.

During a video message featured at the Golden Globes, he said, “There are still battles and tears ahead. But now I can tell you who was the best in the previous year – you in the free world, who united around support of free Ukrainian people.”

Zelenskyy then declared, “There will be no third world wars. It’s not a trilogy.”
