Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) sparked backlash after making a comment about gas stoves amid reports of agencies considering a ban on the appliance.

Ocasio-Cortez reacted to a tweet posted by Rep. Ronny Jackson (R-TX) reacting to the reports of a possible ban.

“I’ll NEVER give up my gas stove. If the maniacs in the White House come for my stove, they can pry it from my cold dead hands. COME AND TAKE IT!!” Jackson wrote.

Ocasio-Cortez reacted, saying, “Did you know that ongoing exposure to NO2 from gas stoves is linked to reduced cognitive performance.”

Twitter users were quick to call Ocasio-Cortez out.

Radio host Erick Erickson tweeted, “It’s always funny when they rush to defend a policy, then the Biden Administration pulls the rug out from other them and walks it all back. Also, she has a gas stove herself.”

Who is going to tell her that COAL is much worse than natural gas? 🤦🏾‍♂️

I'm picturing my entire life, my older family members, generations all having gas stoves. Cooking on them day in and day out for most of their lives. And here they are in the latter years of their lives and still sharp as tacks and quick as whips. https://t.co/nHyN4qERIc

Did you know that forcing poor families to replace appliances because your cult shifted focus is cruel and unusual?

You have two options. 1. Force poor families that can’t afford em to go in debt or do without 2. Force tax payers to pay for your cult shift.

Neither are “cool” https://t.co/eZeAk3hC8s

Folks, this is just another attempt to push the Overton Window further to the left.

They have to start with something absolutely outrageous, so that in the future, when they suggest something even marginally less ridiculous, it would seem almost acceptable to the non-discerning. https://t.co/BmdFzQi9K3

Earlier this week, it was reported the Biden administration is considering a ban on gas stoves over concerns about health and respiratory issues.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced it was planning to take action to address what the agency says are harmful air pollutants that are emitted by the stoves indoors.

“This is a hidden hazard,” Richard Trumka Jr., a commissioner for the agency, said.

He added, “Any option is on the table. Products that can’t be made safe can be banned.”
