Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders (R) is already getting to work by banning one word from being used in Arkansas government documents.

Fox News reported Sanders issued an executive order prohibiting the use of the term “Latinx” in government documents.

She mentioned a Pew Research poll that found only 3% of American Latinos and Hispanics used “Latinx” to describe themselves, as the outlet noted.

“Ethnically insensitive and pejorative language has no place in official government documents or government employee titles,” Sanders states in the executive order.

The order continues, “The government has a responsibility to respect its citizens and use ethnically appropriate language, particularly when referring to ethnic minorities.”

It argues, “One can no more easily remove gender from Spanish and other romance languages than one can remove vowels and verbs from English.”

The order then states, “It is the policy of the Governor’s administration to prohibit the use of culturally insensitive words for official state government business.”

On Tuesday, Sanders was sworn in as the state’s first female governor.

She opened up about her policy agenda during an interview with Fox News.

“I’ve made no secret that the biggest priority I have for this session is a large-scale education reform package,” Sanders said.

She added, “I am really excited to work with our legislative partners to bring about education reform that, I think, will have a generational impact on our state.”

Additionally, Sanders told the outlet public safety is also at the top of her priority list.

“Making sure that our law enforcement officers have the training and the resources and the tools that they need to do their job well, and being supportive of their efforts, and putting some truth into sentencing here in the state of Arkansas,” Sanders said, saying she would be “making sure that violent repeat offenders aren’t let out into our community so that they can continue to commit crime.”

Sanders defeated her Democratic opponent Chris Jones during the midterm elections in November.
