Actor Jeremy Renner gave an update on his condition following his snow plowing accident.
On Tuesday, Renner posted a photo of himself lying in a hospital bed on his Instagram page. Bruises were apparent on his face.
“Thank you all for your kind words. Im too messed up now to type. But I send love to you all,” he wrote in the caption.
According to a statement by his representative obtained by People, Renner underwent surgery on Monday after he suffered “blunt chest trauma and orthopedic injuries.”
“He has returned from surgery and remains in the intensive care unit in critical but stable condition. Jeremy’s family would like to express their gratitude to the incredible doctors and nurses looking after him, Truckee Meadows Fire and Rescue, Washoe County Sheriff, Reno City Mayor Hillary Schieve and the Carano and Murdock families. They are also tremendously overwhelmed and appreciative of the outpouring of love and support from his fans,” the statement added.
On Jan. 1, the 51-year-old actor was near his home in Reno, Nevada, when a snow storm hit the area and caused thousands to lose power in their homes.
Renner reportedly sustained injuries from a snow plowing accident and was airlifted to a local hospital.
At the time, his representative confirmed he was surrounded by family and was “receiving excellent care.”
Renner’s publicist, Samantha Mast, revealed Renner was “clearing driveways” before the accident occured.
She also shared an update on his progress.
“Jeremy is making positive progress and is awake, talking and in good spirits. He remains in ICU in critical but stable condition,” she said.
Mast added that Renner “is overwhelmed by the showing of love and support.”
“The family asks for your continued thoughts while he heals with his close loved ones,” she concluded.
