President Joe Biden is in St. Croix in the U.S. Virgin Islands where he plans to celebrate New Year’s.

But several users took to Twitter to criticize the president for traveling to the island in the wake of a blizzard that has killed at least 60 people.

One account with the handle Live Monitor wrote, “Biden heads to St. Croix while half the country deals with the aftermath of a massive snow storm … remember when the media demanded Ted Cruz resigns for going to Mexico?”

Radio host Dan O’Donnell tweeted, “Remember when the left freaked out because Ted Cruz was in Cancun during power outages in Texas? President Biden is vacationing in St. Croix as millions of Americans are stranded in random cities and dozens are dead in the worst blizzard in decades and liberals are totally fine.”

Several users pointed to the controversy around Sen. Ted Cruz’s (R-Texas) flight to Cancun, Mexico, in February 2021 as a winter storm left millions in his home state without power.

After pictures surfaced of him boarding a flight in the wake of the storm, there were calls for his resignation.

He later told reporters the trip was “obviously a mistake” and added he would not do it again.

Cruz also reacted to Biden’s trip in a tweet, “Enjoy St. Croix.”

He included a sun, palm tree and drink emoji as well.
