House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) is not entertaining questions about whether she might leave Congress before her term is up.

During a press conference Thursday, a reporter asked, “Will you commit to serving your full two-year term for the people of San Francisco?”

“What is this? What is this?” Pelosi shot back.

She added, “Don’t bother me with a question like that. Really. Really, OK? I said what I’m gonna do. Those kind of questions are such a waste of my time.”

After the November election, where Republicans won control of the House, Pelosi, 82, revealed she will continue to serve in the chamber. However, she will not seek to remain in leadership, IJR reported.

During a speech on the House floor announcing her decision, the California Democrat said, “There is no greater official honor for me than to stand on this floor and to speak for the people of San Francisco. This I will continue to do as a member of the House speaking for the people of San Francisco.”

“And with great confidence in our caucus, I will not seek re-election to Democratic leadership in the next Congress,” she continued. “For me, the hour [has] come for a new generation to lead the Democratic caucus that I so deeply respect.”

President Joe Biden reportedly called Pelosi to ask her to stay in office for the next two years after the midterm elections.

“I hope you stick,” he reportedly told her, according to Politico.

When she pointed out she had personal considerations, Biden responded, “I know it’s family first, but I hope you stick.”

Fox Business host Maria Bartiromo reported in September that Pelosi wanted to be the ambassador to Rome if Democrats lost the House.

However, her spokesperson, Drew Hammill, shot down that report.

“The Speaker has no interest in this position and has not discussed it with anyone in the White House. This is the second time Maria Bartiromo has proceeded with reporting anonymous rumors about the Speaker’s future that have no merit,” he said, adding, “And the second time she has failed to ask us for comment before airing or publishing this utter nonsense.”
