After voters roundly said “enough” with former President Donald Trump’s baseless allegations of widespread fraud in the 2020 election, he is showing no signs of listening.
Rather than putting to rest his election fraud claims, the former president took to his Truth Social platform to claim without evidence that something nefarious was happening in Arizona.
“I assume everyone is watching Arizona as the great Kari Lake’s easy election win is slowly, yet systematically, being drained away from her, and from the American people,” Trump wrote.
He continued, “This is a very sad thing to watch. Mail in Ballots, long election counts, many day elections, machines that very few people understand, massive counting centers, and more, are an American disaster.”
“Our elections have become an unreliable joke, and the whole world is watching!” Trump insisted.

Trump’s post comes as Arizona Republican gubernatorial nominee Kari Lake is trailing Democrat Katie Hobb by roughly 25,000 votes with 93% of the expected vote in.
There has been no evidence to suggest widespread fraud is altering the results of the election in Arizona.
Perhaps this post should not be too surprising as Lake was one of the most prominent adopters of Trump’s claims of election fraud. And she has refused to say whether she would accept an election loss.
But refusing to accept a loss in Arizona would show that they have not learned one of the lessons from 2022: voters are done with people attacking our election integrity.
The Washington Post notes that every Republican candidate for secretary of state in a battleground who amplified Trump’s election claims lost this year.
Additionally, Don Bolduc, who questioned the results of 2020, lost his bid for Senate in New Hampshire. Meanwhile, Arizona Republican Senate hopeful Blake Masters, who also questioned the results of the 2020 election, lost.
And those losses contributed to a surprising election where Democrats will keep control of the Senate, and Republicans will hold a razor-thin majority in the House — if they win it at all.
One upside of the election is that it appears as though a decent amount of Republicans heard that message as a lot of those who questioned the results of the 2020 election simply conceded their races without claiming there was fraud.
When your party looks like it’s going to sprint across the finish line, but winds up limping across like someone who ate Twinkies for breakfast, lunch, and dinner for 30 years, you might want to reconsider what you’re doing.
But if Trump and Lake are intent on using their skills as political figures to dominate the Republican Party and push their baseless claims, then it will continue to lose elections until its voters decide to move on from them.
