Trump Endorses NH GOP Senate Candidate Despite Shifting Views on Election Claims

Former President Donald Trump is offering his endorsement of the Republican candidate for Senate in New Hampshire.

In a post on his Truth Social, he endorsed Don Bolduc in his effort to unseat Sen. Maggie Hassan (D-N.H.).

“General Don Bolduc has run a great campaign to be the U.S. Senator from the beautiful State of New Hampshire. He was a strong and proud ‘Election Denier,’ a big reason that he won the Nomination, but he then disavowed,” Trump wrote.

He continued, “He has since come back, at least on busing, but that is only a small part of N.H. Election Fraud. Nevertheless, Don Bolduc has asked for my Endorsement, and he’s got it, Complete [and] Total.”

“His opponent is a disaster on Crime, the Border, Inflation, [and] all else. Vote for Don Bolduc!” the former president added.

Bolduc won the New Hampshire Republican Senate primary in September.

Trump did not endorse him in the primary despite the Senate hopeful claiming he won the 2020 election.

Days after the primary win, Bolduc appeared on Fox News and switched his stance on the election.

“People live and learn,” he said.

He added, “I’ve done a lot of research on this and I have spent the past couple of weeks talking to Granite Staters all over the state, from every party, and I have come to the conclusion, and I want to be definitive about this, that the election was not stolen.”

Still, Bolduc stressed he believes there was fraud that had some affect on the election.

However, he later said at a town hall event, “I can’t say that it was stolen or not.”

“I don’t have enough information,” he added.

Republicans saw New Hampshire as a potential pick up opportunity in the Senate. However, it appeared the state might be out of reach for them as polls showed Hassan holding a roughly 8-point lead. But in recent days, it appears the race has tightened. And FiveThirtyEight’s average now shows Hassan leading Bolduc by 4.1-points.

It would have been better if Bolduc simply stuck with his view that the election was not stolen. And if he is shifting his stances on the integrity of our elections just to boost his political prospects, that is definitely not a good sign.

But after Trump unloaded on Coloroda Senate candidate Joe O’Dea (R), Republicans have got to be breathing a little easy that he is not totally going scorched earth on candidates who have pushed back on his claims in battleground states.
