Actor Tom Cruise could be making his way to space to film his next movie.

Universal Filmed Entertainment Group (UFEG) Chairman Donna Langley spoke with BBC News about the project.

“I think Tom Cruise is taking us to space, he’s taking the world to space,” Langley said.

She added, “That’s the plan. We have a great project in development with Tom … Taking a rocket up to the Space Station and shooting.”

Langley expressed she hopes Cruise will become “the first civilian to do a spacewalk outside of the space station.”

According to Langley, “The majority of the story actually takes place on earth and then the character needs to go up to space to save the day.”

Her comments come just a little over a month after “Top Gun: Maverick” broke another record at the box office.

Variety reported at the time the film crossed $700 million in North America alone and became one of six movies ever to do so at the domestic box office.

“It’s without a doubt, that ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ is a true cultural touchstone embodying the power of the cinematic experience,” Brian Robbins, president and CEO of Paramount Pictures, said.

He added, “As we celebrate this enormous achievement and the film’s massive impact, we want to extend our gratitude to Tom Cruise, our filmmakers and cast, Paramount’s marketing and distribution teams, and the legions of both new and longtime ‘Top Gun’ fans who keep turning out to enjoy this remarkable movie.”

The outlet noted by the time the film leaves theaters, Cruise is expected to “pocket at least $100 million from ticket sales, his salary, home entertainment rentals, and streaming revenue.”

The film also stars Miles Teller, Glen Powell, Jon Hamm, Jennifer Connelly and Val Kilmer.
