Capri Sun Drinks and Frozen Pizza Recalled After Possible Contamination

LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM - OCTOBER 26: Food lunch packs for those who are in need of free children’s meals over the half term holiday are seen at the "Planet Youth" holiday and after-school camp in Muswell Hill on October 26, 2020 in north London, United Kingdom. Offering either pre-made parcels or a bag of ingredients to families in need of assistance during the half-term holiday, the company also offers a free day pass to any recipient of the food packs and is appealing for food donations after providing the initial packs from it's own funds. In a House of Commons vote last week, Conservative MPs voted down a bill that would have provided food for children already on the Free School Meals scheme in schools. Hundreds of businesses across the country have offered children in need meals after pleas from the England and Manchester United Footballer Marcus Rashford. (Photo by Leon Neal/Getty Images)

Thousands of cases of Capri Sun have been recalled due to possible contamination.

Kraft Hein announced on Friday that over 5,700 wild cherry flavored Capri Sun cases have been affected in the possible contamination due to a diluted cleaning solution, which was accidentally placed on the production line at one of its factories.

According to the company, the “Best When Used By” date on the products is June 25, 2023.

“The issue was discovered after we received several consumer complaints about the taste of the affected product. The Company is actively working with retail partners and distributors to remove potentially impacted product from circulation,” the company wrote in a press release.

The wild cherry flavored Capri Sun is the only flavor that has been affected and those who have purchased the product have been advised to return the product and not drink it.

“Consumers can contact Kraft Heinz from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Eastern Standard Time, Monday through Friday, at 1-800-280-8252 to see if a product is part of the recall and to receive reimbursement,” Kraft Heinz said in the press release.

The USDA also announced a recall on Sunday after metal pieces were possibly found in “Home Runn Inn” frozen meat pizza.

The company, based in Illinois, recalled over 13,000 pounds of Chicago’s Premium Pizzeria Deluxe Sausage Classic Pizza, which were made on June 6. 2022 and have a “Best When Used By” of December 3, 2022.

Consumers who have purchased the pizza are advised not to eat them and to throw them away or return it back to the place where they purchased it.

No injuries to consumers of the pizza have been reported so far, according to the USDA, as of the August 14 press release.

“Consumers with questions about the recall can contact Nick Perrino, COO of Home Run Inn Frozen Foods, at 630-783-9696, ext. 2151,” the website reads.
