Johnny Depp’s lawyer Camille Vasquez scored a promotion after the actor’s victory in his defamation case against his ex-wife.

International law firm Brown Rudnick made the announcement on Tuesday.

“Brown Rudnick is pleased to announce that Camille Vasquez has been elevated to partner,” the firm said in a statement.

The firm noted Vasquez “joined Brown Rudnick’s Orange County office in 2018 as an associate in the Litigation & Arbitration practice. She has more than 10 years of experience as a trial lawyer in high-stakes disputes, including defamation cases, contract disputes, business-related torts and employment-related claims.”

William Baldiga, chairman and CEO of Brown Rudnick, said, “We are delighted to welcome Camille to the partnership.”

He continued, “Historically, we have reserved this announcement for the end of our fiscal year. But Camille’s performance during the Johnny Depp trial proved to the world that she was ready to take this next step now. We are incredibly proud of her and look forward to what she will accomplish as our newest partner.”

Vasquez explained she is “delighted that Brown Rudnick has given me its full vote of confidence by having me join the partnership.”

Her statement continues, “I’m proud of the uniquely talented team I’ve had the privilege to lead, which exemplified teamwork and collaboration, and I look forward to continuing to represent Brown Rudnick’s culture of excellence.”

Over the weekend, The New York Post reported Hollywood and other law firms have been battling to hire Vasquez.

“Talent agents are circling Camille because they recognize that she is the unicorn — a smart, savvy, poised attorney whose impactful performance during the trial propelled her to a rare level of visibility,” a source told the outlet.

They added, “And the fact that she is a woman of color is an added bonus.”

A former network executive familiar with the offers said Vasquez “is inarguably a great voice to weigh in on legal matters and networks are naturally chomping at the bit to speak with her about on-air opportunities.”

Vasquez and Depp’s other attorneys managed to convince a jury to rule in favor of him.

Depp was awarded $10 million in compensatory damages and $5 million in punitive damages.
