“The View” co-host Whoopi Goldberg is warning Republican lawmakers against sending “thoughts and prayers” in the wake of the Uvalde school shooting.

Goldberg asked on Wednesday, “What are we doing? Why are we always at square one with this?“

”And I swear to God if I hear another Republican senator talk about their heart being broken, I’m going to go punch somebody. I can’t take any thoughts and prayers,” she continued.

Goldberg added, “If your thoughts and prayers were with everybody, you would have done something by now. It’s not like everybody’s not trying to make something happen. What the hell is going on?”

Co-host Joy Behar chimed in as she said, “I want them to stop gaslighting me, also.”

“Stop saying it’s not guns that kill people, it’s people that kill people. It’s guns that kill people, okay? Stop saying the opposite,” she continued.

Behar went on:

“Stop saying that mental illness is behind this. There’s mental illness in every country in the world, and they don’t have this problem. So stop gaslighting me on that one, and stop saying that you can have a good guy stop a bad guy with a gun.”

She added, “We have seen in both of these shootings in the past three weeks that a good guy tried and could not do it. So stop gaslighting us.”

Behar’s comments appear to refer to the mass shooting in Buffalo, New York, on May 14 at a supermarket where 10 people were killed.

There was a security guard who attempted to stop the gunman. However, he was shot and killed.

On Tuesday, the suspect in the Uvalde shooting crashed his vehicle in a ditch near Robb Elementary School.

As bystanders tried to assist him, he reportedly started shooting at them.

Eric Estrada of the Texas Department of Public Safety, told CNN that a police officer who worked at the school and two police officers with the Uvalde Police Department fired back.

However, he was able to enter the school and barricade himself in a classroom, where he killed at least 19 children and two adults.

Fox News correspondent Bill Melugin tweeted, “Border Patrol sources tell me an elite BORTAC Border Patrol agent is believed to have shot and killed the gunman at Robb Elementary School.”
