Former President Donald Trump was asked to answer “one of the big questions” in politics today.
During an interview with journalist Piers Morgan, Trump was asked a similar question as President Joe Biden’s pick for the Supreme Court, Ketanji Brown Jackson.
Morgan brought up the subject of transgender athletes.
“I think it’s grotesquely unfair. You know, you can support trans rights to equality and fairness, but also understand that what’s going on in sport[s] is inherently unfair and unjust and unequal,” Morgan said.
He asked if Trump shared the same view.
“People see it, and they won’t put up with it,” Trump responded.
When asked if he agreed with U.K. Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s vow to ban transgender athletes from competing in women’s sports, Trump said, “I do. I agreed long before anybody else. I think it’s ridiculous.”
Finally, Morgan said, “One of the big questions being put to politicians is, ‘What is a woman?'”
He asked Trump to answer the question.
“I’m not going to respond to the question,” Trump said.
He went on, “A woman is somebody that swims at a certain time and doesn’t get beaten by 38 seconds by somebody that wasn’t even a good swimmer as a male.”

Trump’s comments appear to refer to transgender swimmer Lia Thomas who won a women’s 1,650-yard freestyle event in December with a 38-second margin.
During Jackson’s confirmation hearings in March, Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.) asked, “Can you provide a definition for the word ‘woman’?”
“I can’t,” Jackson responded.
Blackburn asked, “You can’t?”
Jackson explained, “Not in this context I’m not a biologist.”
