Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) criticized Democrats, calling their agenda “complete craziness.”
During an appearance on Fox News, host Steve Doocy argued as soon as President Joe Biden came into office, Democrats started this “very aggressive” climate agenda.
“Here we are with $7 gas which… obviously people will drive less because it’s costing them a fortune to fill up,” Doocy said.
He added, “What happens when it’s $8 or $9? That could happen. There’s some suggestions that oil could be $200 a barrel in no time.”
Jordan responded, saying, “That’s what the Democrats want. I sat in the hearing. In fact, I asked that question… I said, ‘Do you guys want $8 gas?’ And the truth is they do. For the life of me I can’t figure out because what that means for middle class families, how that hurts the economy.”
He continued, “It’s complete craziness but that’s where the left is today. Unfortunately, they have complete control of the Democratic Party. Joe Biden, I think, is afraid to stand up to them.”

Biden has received criticism from other Republicans over rising gas prices amid Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
“What I’ve said is: ‘Stop buying oil from Russia but get it from America.’ [Biden] will say the first half but he won’t say the second half. So what does he have against American energy,” House GOP Whip Steve Scalise said.
He added, “He’s trying to point to everyone else in the world when everything we need is right under our feet.”
On Tuesday, Biden pushed back against criticism from Republicans.
“It’s simply not true that my administration or policies are holding back domestic energy production. That’s simply not true,” Biden said. “Even amid the pandemic, companies in the U.S. pumped more oil during my first year in office than they did during my predecessor’s first year.”
He also announced the United States would no longer allow imports of Russian oil.
