Harris Ripped to Shreds After Trying to Explain Russia-Ukraine Conflict in ‘Layman’s Terms’

BRANDYWINE, MARYLAND - DECEMBER 13: U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris talks about the effect of pollution on her sight and taste remarks at the Prince George’s County Brandywine Maintenance Facility on December 13, 2021 in Brandywine, Maryland. The county is working to electrify its entire vehicle fleet. During the visit Harris announced the Biden Administration's new Electric Vehicle Charging Action Plan that works to fast-track investments from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and create a joint electric vehicles office between the departments of Energy and Transportation. Vice President Kamala Harris tried to explain how Russia’s invasion of Ukraine could impact Americans, and it did not go well for her.

During an appearance on “The Morning Hustle” on Tuesday, Harris was asked, “[If] you’re watching any level of news, even social media, you’re seeing everything that going on right now in the Ukraine. Break it down in layman’s terms for people who don’t understand what’s going on and how can this directly affect the people of the United States.”

“Ukraine is a country in Europe. It exists next to another country called Russia. Russia is a bigger country. Russia is a powerful country. Russia decided to invade a smaller country called Ukraine. So basically, that’s wrong,” Harris responded.

To be fair, nothing that Harris said in there is wrong.

However, she appears to have tried to explain the situation as though she were speaking to a five-year-old who has never heard of Ukraine or Russia before. And it can give the sense that she does not really know about the subject at hand.

That is an issue that Harris has faced repeatedly during her time as vice president, most recently when she suggested that Europe experienced “peace and security” for 70 years.

On top of her word salad answers, the belief that she does not understand subjects — or is not prepared enough to answer questions — was likely confirmed for many by a story in The Washington Post that reported, “Staffers who worked for Harris before she was vice president said one consistent problem was that Harris would refuse to wade into briefing materials prepared by staff members, then berate employees when she appeared unprepared.”

Her comments were mocked on Twitter:

OH… MY… GOD

Q: “What’s going on in Ukraine?”

Kamala: “Ukraine is a country in Europe. It exists next to another country called Russia. Russia is a bigger country. Russia decided to invade a smaller country called Ukraine so basically that’s wrong.”

Ppl are calling her 'dumb' over this but that's unfair: the point is that's what she thinks of the audience. She just has a real inability to talk normally to ppl. Layman's terms doesn't mean 'assume the audience has never heard of Russia.'

One easy answer to the question is: Russia invented a pretext to invade its neighboring country, Ukraine, unprovoked, and that invasion could disrupt the global supply of energy which would send gas prices even higher and fuel inflation.
