“The View’s” Joy Behar suggested former President Donald Trump’s support for Russia “is about white supremacy.”

During the show, the co-hosts showed a clip of Trump at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) over the weekend making comments about Russia’s attack on Ukraine.

“The Russian attack on Ukraine is appalling. It’s an outrage and an atrocity that should have never been allowed to occur,” Trump said.

He added, “This horrific disaster would have never happened if our election was not rigged and if I was the president.”

Trump argued, “The problem is not that Putin is smart, which of course he’s smart. But, the real problem is that our leaders are dumb.”

Behar asked, “What do you think is behind it, though?”

She added, “Because I was reading an article that a lot of it is about white supremacy. A lot of this support for Putin and Russia is about white supremacy.”

Whoopi Goldberg continued, “There are a lot of folks who think it would be a better country if it were more like Russia. I don’t agree, but that’s me.”

Do you think Trump's support for Russia rooted in "white supremacy"?

During the conference, Trump also called Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy a “brave man.”

Taking aim at the president, Trump claimed Putin is “playing [President Joe] Biden like a drum and it’s not a pretty thing to watch.”

The New York Times reported on Sunday Putin was putting his nuclear forces into “special combat readiness.” The American ambassador to the United Nations stressed to the Security Council that Russia was “under no threat.”

The ambassador slammed Putin for “another escalatory and unnecessary step that threatens us all,” as the Times reported.

On Monday, the Biden administration announced additional economic sanctions on Russia.

“We wanted to put these actions in place before our markets open because what we learned over the course of the weekend from our allies and partners was the Russian Central Bank was attempting to move assets and there would be a great deal of asset flight starting on Monday morning from institutions around the world,” a senior Biden administration official said on a call with reporters.
