Melania Trump Launching NFT Collection Highlighting ‘Iconic Moments’ From the Trump Admin

MCALLEN, TX - JUNE 21: U.S. first lady Melania Trump participates in a round table discussion with doctors and social workers at the Upbring New Hope Childrens Center operated by Lutheran Social Services of the South and contracted with the Department of Health and Human Services June 21, 2018 in McAllen, Texas. The first lady traveled to Texas to see first hand the condition and treatment that migrant children taken from their families at the U.S.-Mexico border are receiving from the federal government. Following public outcry and criticism from members of his own party, President Donald Trump signed an executive order Wednesday to stop the separation of migrant children from their families, a practice the administration employed to deter illegal immigration at the border. Former First Lady Melania Trump is launching a “limited-edition” collection of nonfungible tokens (NFTs).

According to Forbes, an NFT is “a digital asset that represents real-world objects like art, music, in-game items and videos. They are bought and sold online, frequently with cryptocurrency, and they are generally encoded with the same underlying software as many cryptos.”

Trump posted an announcement on Twitter, saying the “POTUS TRUMP NFT” collection will launch on Presidents’ Day.

She explained the collection “consists of 10 original pieces of digital artwork, highlighting iconic moments from President Trump’s administration such as the Fourth of July visit to Mount Rushmore and Christmas at the White House.”

Trump added, “The limited-edition collection is comprised of 10,000 NFTs and is tiered into platinum and gold levels.”

According to the former first lady, the artwork of each NFT “is revealed only after purchase.”

Collectors can also make “multiple purchases to own the entire” collection.

Her statement continues, “I am proud to expand upon my NFT platform and am honored to be able to recognize important moments in our Nation’s history. I look forward to collaborating with others to offer truly special, authentic parts of U.S. history.”

Last month, Trump launched an online auction, calling it the “Head of State Collection,” as IJR previously reported.

The collection commemorated the Trump administration’s first official state visit and featured “three important one-of-a-kind signed items.”

The starting bid for the collection initially stood at $250,000.

Another item included in the collection was an NFT of a watercolor painting of Trump by French artist Marc-Antoine Coulon.

The winning bidder reportedly paid around $185,000 for the collection.
