L.A. Rams wide receiver Van Jefferson had more to celebrate than his Super Bowl win when his wife gave birth to their son Sunday.

Psalm 127:3 tells us that, “Children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb a reward” and although her due date was originally February 17, his wife went into labor during the game, was put on a stretcher, and taken to the hospital to give birth. According to The Athletic, “Samaria told the Rams not to tell her husband if she went into labor during the game.”

According to ESPN “Samaria was determined to be at the Super Bowl to support Van.”

She told The Athletic before the game, “Just like any other game, I’m going to be there this Sunday and I’m going to stay calm … and pray to God my water doesn’t break. I am 100% going to be there. I would not miss this moment for anything. I will be 40 weeks pregnant at the Super Bowl, supporting my husband 100%.”

“I’m feeling pretty good — I’m definitely feeling 40 weeks (pregnant). I’m definitely feeling the pressure and the pain. Nerves for Van, nerves for our family — but it’s OK.” She continued.

According to The Sun, Samaria met her future husband as teenagers, when they both attended Ravenwood High School in Brentwood, Tennessee.

“After the Rams defeated the Cincinnati Bengals, Jefferson bypassed the postgame celebration and rushed out of the stadium to get to his wife,” NFL Gameday reported. This would be the second child for the couple, who already have a 5-year-old daughter named Bella. The new parents have yet to share the name of their son.

According to ESPN, “Van celebrated the win and birth on social media, telling fans that Sunday was a great day because “I got three prizes today — my wife, my son and the Super Bowl. It was a great day, bro.”

The Rams defeated the Cincinnati Bengals 23-20.
