Fox News Sunday host Chris Wallace opened up about why he would not give those who challenged the results of the 2020 presidential election an opportunity to be on his show.

During an appearance on “The Late Show” with Stephen Colbert Wednesday night, the host asked Wallace if he has “ever seen anything so cynical in Washington D.C. than people saying things they know aren’t true, that they know has to have lasting damage on our democracy?”

Wallace replied, “I have never seen this.”

He continued, “Someone would say to me, ‘Well are they delusional?’ Well maybe some of them are but I think it’s worse, more of them have cynically decided because of the Trump base, because they didn’t want to get crosswise with the former president, they’re going to say something they know is not true.”

Wallace explained he does not believe “you just sit there and say, ‘I’m not going to have them on.’ But if I’m gonna have them on, I’m gonna hold them to account over and over” about whether the election is fair.

Reflecting on the January 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol, Wallace told Colbert he was “sickened.”

Colbert went on to ask Wallace, “Does it worry you that you give legitimacy to people who have abdicated all public responsibility?”

He responded, “There are plenty of people who were the leaders in the Congress of challenging it that I just have not had on the show ever since then, and have purposefully not had on the show, because I don’t frankly wanna hear their crap.”

Wallace continued, “But having said that, there are some leaders that you have to ask them questions. There are people in leadership and the Senate and I won’t let them come on without putting them through the wringer.”

Several lawmakers including Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) and Sen. Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) challenged the results of the election.
