House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) is utilizing House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s (D-Calif.) jab at his opposition to mask mandates as an opportunity to fundraise.

A post on WinRed, the Republican Party’s fundraising website, reads, “OPPOSE THE MORONIC MASK MANDATE WITH THIS EXCLUSIVE T-SHIRT!”

“Nancy Pelosi JUST CALLED Kevin McCarthy a ‘moron’ for opposing the mask mandate. You’re a top patriot and HE NEEDS YOU to get this t-shirt to oppose HER & the Radical Socialist Left,” it adds.

It also says that funds from the T-shirt sales will benefit McCarthy’s campaign.

The post also includes a picture of the T-shirt which reads, “mo•ron noun 1. A term coined by Nancy Pelosi referring to freedom-loving Americans who oppose Mask mandates.”

In July,  Capitol Physician, Dr. Brian Monahan issued a memo as COVID-19 cases began to rise that read, “For all House Office Buildings, the Hall of the House, and House Committee Meetings, wearing of a well-fitted, medical grade, filtration face mask is required when an individual is in an interior space and other individuals are present.”

McCarthy voiced his opposition to the mandate, which he claimed was a “decision conjured up by liberal government officials who want to continue to live in a perpetual pandemic state.”

When asked about McCarthy’s comments, Pelosi said, “He’s such a moron.”

The House speaker’s daughter, Christine Pelosi, took to Twitter on Wednesday to take a jab at the “moron” T-shirts. She wrote, “If the shirt fits.”

Several House Republicans have expressed outrage at the new mask mandate.

In a speech on the House floor, Rep. Chip Roy (R-Texas) said, “Which is it? Vaccines or masks? Do the vaccines work, or they don’t work? Do the masks work, or they don’t work? I’d like to know which it is. I’d like Dr. Fauci to come down and answer a single question about natural immunity. If you’ve been infected with the virus, do you have immunity? Or are they just gonna go around poking people, saying you must take a vaccine. ‘Oh, but sorry, the vaccine doesn’t work, you must wear a mask.”

“This institution is a sham! And we should adjourn and shut this place down,” he added.
