It would not be good for the country if former President Donald Trump ran again in 2024, according to the majority of Americans.

A new Quinnipiac University poll found that 60% of Americans believe it would be bad for the country if Trump competed for the White House again in 2024. Only 32% think it would be good for the country.

When asked about whether they would be more or less likely to vote for a candidate that Trump endorsed, 19% say they would be more likely to vote for them, while 41% say it is less likely, and 37% say it does not make a difference.

Fifty-four percent of Republicans say it is more likely they will vote for the person endorsed by Trump, 6% say it is less likely, and 34% say it doesn’t make a difference.

Between 49% and 39% believe Trump will run again. At the same time, 12% do not have an opinion.

The poll was conducted July 27-August 2 and 1,290 U.S. adults across the country were surveyed.

During a Fox News town hall in July, host Sean Hannity said, “Let me ask the crowd. Of everybody here, would you like to see the president run again in 2024?”

The crowd cheered, and Hannity then asked Trump, “Have you made up your mind?”

The former president responded, “Yes.” He did not expand on his answer.

In the same month, 70% of Republicans said they would vote for Trump in the 2024 Republican primary if it “were held today,” according to a CPAC straw poll. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) received 21%.

Touching on the poll during the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in Dallas, Texas, Trump said, “Now, if it’s bad, I just say it’s fake. If it’s good, I say that’s the most accurate poll, perhaps ever.”

In a second question that did not include Trump, DeSantis received 68%, while former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo garnered 5% and Donald Trump Jr. won 4%.
