Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson (R) is advising the Republican Party to avoid centering their attention around former President Donald Trump.
During an interview with “The View” Monday, Hutchinson touched on Rep. Liz Cheney’s (R-Wyo.) removal from her leadership position and suggested the former president is running the show.
“It looks like the former president is directing who can serve in leadership and that’s not good,” Hutchinson said.
Pointing out there are “multiple voices” in the Republican Party, Hutchinson explained, “We should not de facto make the former president as the guardian of our party or the leader of our party.”

Hutchinson called on Republicans to “be united in the next election” and to “come together around principles and not simply a personality.”
Co-host Joy Behar noted 70% of Republicans believe President Joe Biden did not win the election.
She asked Hutchinson, “How can you say that it’s still the Republican Party? … Do you believe that Biden won the election?”
The governor responded, “Absolutely. Biden won the election. Trump lost the election.”
During an interview that aired on Sunday, ABC News’ Jon Karl asked Cheney, “How many of your colleagues actually believe that stuff, actually believe the election was stolen?”
She responded, “I think it’s a relatively small number.”
Cheney claimed the Republican Party is “in a situation with respect to the former president that is really dangerous.”
Over the weekend, Trump posted a new statement claiming “the Presidential Election of 2020 will go down as THE CRIME OF THE CENTURY!”
The former president blasted Cheney in a statement following the vote to oust her, “Liz Cheney is a bitter, horrible human being,” adding, “I look forward to soon watching her as a Paid Contributor on CNN or MSDNC!”
