White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki says the administration’s messaging will not change if former President Donald Trump is allowed to return to Facebook.
During a White House press briefing on Tuesday, Psaki was asked, “If [Trump] is reinstated, is there any change in strategy that the White House would put [in terms of messaging]. In other words, if he’s on these platforms expressing his views, does that change what you do at all?”
“No,” Psaki responded.

Trump was banned from Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and other social media platforms following the January 6 insurrection at the U.S. Capitol.
Psaki has previously refused to comment on whether she believed Trump should be from Twitter, but said, “This may be hard to believe, we don’t spend a lot of time talking about or thinking about President Trump here, former President Trump to be very clear.”
She added, “I can’t say we miss him on Twitter.”
However, she said that there is a “need for social media platforms to continue to take steps to reduce hate speech.”
While Twitter has permanently banned Trump from its platform, a Facebook oversight board will decide whether he will be let back on Facebook and Instagram with a decision expected to be announced on Wednesday.
Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg said when Trump was initially banned, “We believe the risks of allowing the President to continue to use our service during this period are simply too great.”
“His decision to use his platform to condone rather than condemn the actions of his supporters at the Capitol building has rightly disturbed people in the US and around the world,” he also said.
