Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) is sharing a video of himself firing a gun inside a shooting range after receiving backlash for his explanation behind owning an AR-15.

“In 1994, there was an Assault Weapons Ban – the evidence indicates that there was really no change at all in crime, because the crooks are going to get a gun!” Graham tweeted along with a video of himself at the Palmetto State Armory in Greenville, South Carolina.

He added, “Today at [Palmetto State Armory] I fired one of the weapons they are trying to ban. [Second Amendment].”

Graham went on to explain why he would need to own an AR-15, “If there is a breakdown of law and order, and that can happen — we’ve seen it happen in our major cities. Remember Hugo, where people were isolated for days? Remember Katrina?”

He continued, “It’s not impossible to find yourself in the modern world without any police protection, because that’s just the way the times are in which we live in. We’re talking about defunding the police!”

During an appearance on Fox News Sunday, host Chris Wallace asked Graham, “What’s wrong with a serious debate after all these shootings about assault weapons and especially about large-capacity magazines?”

Graham replied, “There’s nothing wrong about debates. As a matter of fact, I would challenge Senator Schumer to bring the assault weapons ban to the floor of the United States Senate.”

He continued, “I own an AR-15. If there’s a natural disaster in South Carolina where the cops can’t protect my neighborhood, my house will be the last one that the gang will come to because I can defend myself.”
