“Real Time with Bill Maher” host Bill Maher is speaking with former counselor to the president Kellyanne Conway about President Donald Trump and his legacy.
She was asked by Maher during Friday night’s show, “How do you look back, four years later, anything go wrong?”
Conway responded, “A lot went right, and he will be remembered for that.”
However, she also said that last week’s riot at the U.S. Capitol was “vulgar” and added, “There’s no place for violence and vandalism, and I wish the president had spoken with the people earlier to get them the hell out of there.”
Conway said during the show, “The real disappointment for people like me is that the last two months weren’t spent mostly talking about the accomplishments.” The former counselor to the president acknowledged Joe Biden’s win in the election in early December.
Maher also mentioned during the interview that Trump has hurled insults at him, including calling him “a dummy, dopey” and “dumb as a rock.”
Maher also joked during his monologue, “[Trump’s] like the vaccine, you need two doses, and still no guarantees.”
He was referring to the House of Representatives impeaching Trump this week — which is the first time in U.S. history a president has been impeached twice.
Additionally, Maher said during Friday’s show that Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) is “playing everyone like a fiddle.”
McConnell said he has not made a decision on if he will vote to convict Trump. This came after Axios reported there is a “better than 50-50 chance” McConnell would vote to convict Trump.
The New York Times also reported the senator “has told associates that he believes President Trump committed impeachable offenses and that he is pleased that Democrats are moving to impeach him, believing that it will make it easier to purge him from the party.”
Maher continued, “He’s rope-a-doping you. He does this with the media all the time. … He leaked it out that he might do this. He’s never going to do it. He’s not going to vote to impeach Donald Trump.”
The late-night show host also predicted Trump “is going to run again. He’s not going away. And he’s a brand now. I see these other politicians who talk like him now. … It’s a brand! We let the alien on the spaceship and it had eggs! It had eggs and they’re breeding!”
