Anthony Scaramucci is not holding back in expressing his thoughts about President Donald Trump.

Scaramucci, who was a White House Communications Director for 11 days, fired in 2017, appeared on CNN’s “Anderson Cooper 360” Thursday night where he claimed that the president is like Oklahoma City bomber Timothy McVeigh.

When talking about Trump leaving the White House soon and the U.S. Capitol riot that occurred last week, Scaramucci said Trump is “arguably, at least in the 21st century, you could say Timothy McVeigh for the 20th century, but he is the domestic terrorist of the 21st century.”

CNN’s Anderson Cooper sought to clarify Scaramucci’s claim, “You think he’ll be viewed as a domestic terrorist?”

Scaramucci responded that people are “all in shock about it” right now, and added that people have “an august opinion of the office of the presidency.”

Scaramucci, a vocal critic of Trump, added:

“So you’re reacting to it like ‘Wow, we can’t really have the president be a domestic terrorist.’ But 50 years from now, a presidential historian will look at this situation and say, ‘My God, he didn’t accept the election, he signaled prior to the election that he wasn’t going to, and he incited an insurrection where people descended on the Capitol building calling for the death of his vice president.'”

He noted that people have to “step back” and “look at it objectively and look at it from 2071, not 2021,” adding, “And yes, I do think he will be known throughout history as somebody that incited domestic terrorism.”

Asked he believes if Trump will be held accountable in the Senate or after his presidency, Scaramucci said Trump “has to be held accountable” and “has to be convicted in the Senate.” Though noting there needs to be caution, Scaramucci added that he thinks Trump should “go to jail.”

The House of Representatives voted to impeach Trump this week on the charge of “incitement of insurrection” — the first time in U.S. history a president has been impeached twice.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) indicated this week that he does not plan to reconvene the Senate before Jan. 19.

McConnell said in a statement, “Given the rules, procedures, and Senate precedents that govern presidential impeachment trials, there is simply no chance that a fair or serious trial could conclude before President-elect Biden is sworn in next week.”

President-elect Joe Biden’s inauguration will be on Jan. 20.
