U.S. Secretary of the Treasury Steven Mnuchin is laying out when Americans could start to receive the new stimulus checks after Congress reached a deal on an approximately $900 billion coronavirus relief bill.

During Monday’s interview on CNBC, Mnuchin said, “The good news is this is a very, very fast way of getting money into the economy. Let me emphasize: People are going to see this money at the beginning of next week.”

He continued, “People go out and spend this money, and that helps small business and that helps getting more people back to work.” He added that he believes “this will take us through the recovery.”

Watch Mnuchin’s interview below:

Congressional leaders reached a coronavirus relief deal on Sunday of approximately $900 billion. Congress is expected to vote to approve the bill.

Part of the bill includes $600 per adult and child, depending on the person’s income. The payment amount is less for those who made over $75,000 in the 2019 tax year and will not be given to those who made over $99,000.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) wrote on Twitter Sunday in announcing the deal, “Congress has just reached an agreement. We will pass another rescue package ASAP. More help is on the way.”
