Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) is responding to remarks made by Secretary of State Mike Pompeo about the election results.

A reporter asked Schumer for his reaction to Pompeo’s refusal to accept that former Vice President Joe Biden won the election.

“Look at reality. Secretary Pompeo, Joe Biden has won. He’s won the election. Now move on. Let’s bring this country together and get things done. We have a COVID crisis raging. We don’t have time for these kinds of games,” Schumer said.

Pompeo was asked during a press conference on Tuesday if his department is working with Biden’s team to ensure a peaceful transfer of power, as IJR previously reported.

“There will be a smooth transition to a second Trump administration,” Pompeo said.

He added, “We’re ready. The world is watching what’s taking place here. We’re going to count all the votes. When the process is complete, they’ll be electors selected. There’s a process the Constitution lays it out pretty clearly.”

Pompeo discussed whether he believes widespread voter fraud could influence the results of the election in Trump’s favor.

“I’m the secretary of state. I’m getting calls from all across the world. These people are watching our election. They understand that we have a legal process,” Pompeo said.

He continued, “I’m very confident that we will count… and we must count every legal vote. We must make sure that any vote that wasn’t lawful ought not be counted.”

During a speech on the Senate floor on Monday, Schumer denied widespread voter fraud allegations, as IJR previously reported.

“And make no mistake, there has been no evidence of any significant or widespread voter fraud. Joe Biden won this election fair and square, the margins of his victory are growing by the day,” Schumer said.
