As election workers around the country continue to process votes, Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden is feeling confident that when all the counting is completed, they will be victorious.

In brief remarks on Wednesday, Biden said, “Now, after a long night of counting, it’s clear that we’re winning enough states to reach 270 electoral votes needed to win the presidency.”

“I’m not here to declare that we’ve won. But I am here to report when the count is finished we believe we will be the winners,” he added.

Biden’s comments come as crucial states were called for the former vice president.

As of 6 p.m. EST on Wednesday, Biden was leading in Wisconsin with its ten electoral votes and Michigan with its 16 electoral votes. Additionally, the last vote total found that Biden has received over 70 million votes.

With Biden appearing to win the two Midwestern states, he has 253 electoral votes, just 17 votes away from clinching the presidency.

If he maintains his leads in Arizona and Nevada, he will secure the remaining votes he needs to be president. He would not need to win Pennsylvania with its 20 electoral votes.

However, President Donald Trump‘s re-election campaign is filing lawsuits to stop counting in Michigan and Pennsylvania and suggested there could be further litigation.
