President Donald Trump says his supporters in Texas surrounded a campaign bus for Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden to protect it.

Speaking to supporters in Washington, Michigan, on Sunday, Trump said, “You know they were protecting [Biden’s] bus yesterday–because they are nice. They had hundreds of cars.”

His comment comes a day after a video surfaced of cars displaying Trump flags surrounding a Biden campaign bus on a highway in Texas.

“Trump, Trump. Trump and the American flag. That’s it. You see Trump and the American flag. You ever notice when you see the other side–I don’t even see much of the other side. You don’t see any. They have no spirit. They have no enthusiasm. They have no nothing,” he added.

Trump shared a video from the moment and said, “I LOVE TEXAS!”

Biden campaign spokesperson Symone Sanders responded to Trump’s tweet, “What the President tweeted in regards to Texas is reckless, dangerous, and an intimidation tactic. It’s not something we should come to accept from our leaders.”

“The people of our great country have the opportunity to turn the corner here. VOTE. HIM. OUT,” she added.

A Biden campaign official told CNN the cars with Trump flags attempted to force the bus off the road. Additionally, campaign officials said the cars surrounded the bus and forced it to slow down to about 20 miles per hour.

Campaign officials eventually called 9-1-1, and police escorted the bus to Austin, Texas.

CNN also reported that the FBI was launching an investigation into the incident.

A Biden spokesperson told The Hill the campaign decided to cancel the event after the incident, “Rather than engage in productive conversation about the drastically different visions that Joe Biden and Donald Trump have for our country, Trump supporters in Texas today instead decided to put our staff, surrogates, supporters, and others in harm’s way.”

Neither Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden nor his running mate Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.) were on the bus.
