Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) is not “overly confident” as Election Day nears.

Speaking with CNN’s Anderson Cooper on Wednesday, the Vermont senator — who ran in the 2020 Democratic primary — shared that he is “not one who speculates” on elections but, “I am cautiously optimistic.”

After calling it “the most important election,” Sanders added, “I am not overly confident.”

He continued, “I am going to work as hard as I can. I think Biden stands a very good chance of winning.”

There are only five days left until Election Day on Nov. 3. According to FiveThirtyEight, Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden holds an 8.9 point lead ahead of President Donald Trump, as of Thursday.

As of Wednesday, more than 75 million Americans have already cast their ballots.

Both Biden and Trump will hold dueling rallies in Tampa, Florida, on Thursday.

The president has tried to label Biden as having a socialist agenda, to which Biden has said, “I beat the socialist. That’s how I got elected. That’s how I got the nomination.” Sanders is a self-described Democratic socialist.

“Do I look like a socialist? Look at my career, my whole career. I am not a socialist,” Biden previously said.
