White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany tested positive for COVID-19.

McEnany made the announcement in a statement on Twitter Monday, where she wrote, “After testing negative consistently, including every day since Thursday, I tested positive for COVID-19 on Monday morning while experiencing no symptoms.”

She added that there are “no reporters, producers, or members of the press” listed as “close contacts by the White House Medical Unit.

“Moreover, I definitively had no knowledge of Hope Hicks’ diagnosis prior to holding a White House press briefing on Thursday,” McEnany continued.

She added:

“As an essential worker, I have worked diligently to provide needed information to the American People at this time. With my recent positive test, I will begin the quarantine process and will continue working on behalf of the American People remotely.”

McEnany’s coronavirus diagnosis comes days after President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump made known they tested positive for the virus.

A number of White House staff and other Republicans have tested positive for coronavirus since the president’s announcement of his diagnosis. Vice President Mike Pence and second lady Karen Pence tested negative again on Monday.
