Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden had some harsh words for the current occupant of the White House during their first debate.

Biden called President Donald Trump a “clown,” a “racist,” and “the worst president America has ever had” on Tuesday.

During an interview with Philadelphia CBS News affiliate KDKA on Wednesday, the former vice president was asked if he had any regrets about his comments during the debate.

“No,” he said, adding, “Because everything I said was true.”

Specifically, Biden was asked about a moment during the debate when Trump avoided condemning white supremacists. He said, “The words of a president matter, no matter how good or bad a president they are.”

He continued, “Remember what was asked last night? ‘Would you condemn white supremacists?’ And I said, ‘What about the Proud Boys?’ And he said, ‘I will just tell them to stand down and stand by.’ Look at their logo this morning. They put out a logo — an official logo, they’re very proud of it — that says ‘Proud Boys, stand down but stand by.’ That is absolutely outrageous.'”

When asked if he would explicitly condemn white supremacists during, Trump said, “Sure.”

“I would say almost everything I see is from the left-wing. Not from the right-wing. I’m willing to do anything, I want to see peace,” he continued.

However, when he asked for a specific group to condemn, Biden mentioned the far-right group Proud Boys and Trump responded, “Proud Boys, stand back and stand by. But I’ll tell you what, somebody’s got to do something about Antifa and the left. Because this is not a right-wing problem.”

During a separate interview, Biden said Trump’s debate performance was a “national embarrassment.”

“I just hope the American people and those undecided voters try to determine what each of us has as an answer for their concerns,” he added.
