Democratic vice presidential nominee Kamala Harris is accusing President Donald Trump of failing to care for the American people during the early days of the coronavirus pandemic.

During a campaign event in Florida, Harris offered her reaction to the comments the president made to investigative journalist Bob Woodward in March, where he indicated he wanted to downplay the outbreak.

“This is an individual who is not concerned about the health, safety, and well-being of the American people and is frankly engaged in a reckless disregard of the lives and the health and well-being of the people of our country. I find it so outrageous,” Harris said.

She claimed he “had all this information” about the coronavirus in January and February and still held campaign rallies anyway.

Check out her comments below:

Harris said Trump suggested wearing a mask is “a sign of weakness as opposed to a sign of strength.”

Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden spoke out about Trump’s comments during an interview with CNN’s Jake Tapper.

Biden said, “He waved a white flag; he walked away. He didn’t do a damn thing. Think about it. Think about what he did not do. It’s almost criminal,” as IJR previously reported.

Trump told reporters “perhaps” he misled the public on the outbreak to “reduce panic,” as IJR previously reported.

He revealed in an interview with Fox News’ Sean Hannity why he spoke with Woodward.

“I figured, you know, ‘Let’s give it a little shot, I’ll speak to him.’ It wasn’t a big deal,” Trump said.

ABC News reporter Jon Karl pressed Trump on why he lied to the American people during his press briefing.

He also asked him why he should be trusted.

Trump fired back, “Such a terrible question and the phraseology. I didn’t lie, what I said is we have to be calm, we can’t be panicked.”
