Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) is not holding back expressing his frustration with his Republican colleagues.

In clear anger, Schumer delivered a message to his colleagues, “Where the hell are you?”

During an interview on Thursday morning, the New York lawmaker was open about how “aggravated” he is.

“This is a national crisis,” Schumer said, before adding that President Donald Trump “lies about everything” such as Russian interference in the U.S. elections.

He accused Republican lawmakers about being “mum.”

“Where are they at this time of crisis?” he reiterated, before going on to say that the difference between Trump and former President Richard Nixon is that Nixon had a Republican Senate that had “some senators who had some degree of courage.”

“We have seen none of that. [Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.)] as leader sets an awful example. As I said, he is totally cynical now, totally political.”

Schumer went on to note that people are losing jobs, money, and their homes amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The Democratic lawmaker’s comments come after audio recordings were shared on Wednesday, in which one Trump said to journalist Bob Woodward during an interview on March 19, “To be honest with you, I wanted to always play it down,” referring to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“I still like playing it down because I don’t want to create a panic,” the president continued.

The U.S. has more than 6.5 million confirmed coronavirus cases, with over 195,000 deaths due to the virus and more than 3.8 million reported recoveries, as of Tuesday morning. The U.S. leads the world in most coronavirus cases reported, but the country has seen a decline in cases and deaths.

The Senate is expected to vote on a scaled-down Republican coronavirus relief package on Thursday. However, Democrats have expressed opposition to it.
