The U.S. Army is investigating two soldiers who appeared in a video in uniform during the second night of the Democratic National Convention.

During the virtual roll on Tuesday, delegates from each state and territory chose a background that was important to them. Two delegates from the American Somoa appeared in front of two reservists in uniform assigned to the 9th Mission Support Command.

On Wednesday, the Army said in a statement, “Wearing a uniform to a partisan political event like this is prohibited.”

“The Army follows the Department of Defense’s longstanding and well-defined policy regarding political campaigns and elections to avoid the perception of DoD sponsorship, approval or endorsement of any political candidate, campaign or cause,” the statement continued.

In a press conference on Wednesday, Democratic National Committee spokeswoman the appearance of the soldiers, “That shot was an oversight.”

“Each state was asked to highlight the issues and the values to their locations and to their communities. And that is one that American Samoa delegation wanted to highlight, and so, again, the production of that was just an oversight,” she added.
