As former Vice President Joe Biden officially garnered the party’s nomination ahead of the 2020 presidential election, he received a nomination from a security guard who once went viral after meeting him.

The New York Times security guard Jacquelyn Brittany nominated Biden at Tuesday night’s virtual Democratic National Convention.

In her speech, Brittany said, “In the short time I spent with Joe Biden I could tell he really saw me, that he actually cared. That my life meant something to him. … Joe Biden has room in his heart for more than just himself.”

She continued:

“We’ve been through a lot and we have tough days ahead, but nominating someone like that to be in the White House is a good place to start. … I nominate my friend, Joe Biden as the next president of the United States.”

A video of Brittany and Biden went viral last year after the clip showed the security guard saying to Biden, “I love you. I do. You’re like my favorite.” At the time, Brittany said of her meeting with Biden that he “was just genuinely, genuinely nice to people. We don’t get that from everybody,” she told the Post.

Biden was quick in showing his gratitude to Brittany after her nomination. He wrote in response on Twitter, “Jacquelyn: Your nomination means the world to me. Thank you — and I hope you know: we love you back.”
