Vice President Mike Pence does not seem too happy with Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts.

Pence did not hold back during an interview with CBN News, as he specifically named Roberts in expressing the “disappointment” with the Supreme Court chief justice.

“We have great respect for the institution of the Supreme Court of the United States but Chief Justice Roberts has been a disappointment to conservatives,” Pence said when asked if Roberts had let down conservatives.

In June, Roberts sided with four liberal justices in a 5-4 ruling that struck down a Louisiana law that would have put restrictions on doctors who perform abortions, as IJR previously reported — a move that drew outrage from conservatives.

As The New York Times reported at the time, Roberts had “voted with the court’s liberal wing in three major cases: on job discrimination against lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender workers, on a program protecting young undocumented immigrants known as Dreamers and now on abortion.”

The vice president continued in listing out cases, as he said they show “just how important this election is for the future of the Supreme Court”:

“Whether it be the Obamacare decision or whether it be a spate of recent decisions all the way through Calvary Chapel. I think several cases out of the Supreme Court are reminders of just how important this election is for the future of the Supreme Court.

[…] The recent decision, and again, a narrow Supreme Court decision striking down a Louisiana pro-life law that only said that doctors working in abortion clinics would have to have admitting privileges at local hospitals. That’s a very modest restriction on abortion providers.”

Pence then said that Roberts’ moves are a “wake-up call for pro-life voters around the country who understand, in a very real sense, the destiny of the Supreme Court is on the ballot in 2020.”

The vice president noted that President Donald Trump is creating another list of names to fill Supreme Court vacancies and plans to publish it ahead of the 2020 presidential election.

The president tweeted about the list on June 18:

…Based on decisions being rendered now, this list is more important than ever before (Second Amendment, Right to Life, Religous Liberty, etc.) – VOTE 2020!

— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) June 18, 2020

“I will only choose from this list,” Trump tweeted.
