President Donald Trump is sharing his personal reaction to the smaller-than-expected turnout for his weekend campaign rally in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Before boarding Marine One for this trip to Arizona on Tuesday, the president was asked by reporters about the turnout for the rally. Trump pivoted from the smaller turnout to focus on Fox News viewer ratings.
“As you probably have heard, Fox had the highest ratings on a Saturday night in the history of Fox. So that’s the ultimate poll, I guess,” Trump said.
The president went on to mention the “nice crowd” as he shifted again to record-setting viewership.
“We actually had a nice crowd despite all of the warnings and everything else other networks were trying to do, despite the fact that we had some pretty bad people waiting there, they shouldn’t have been… maybe some of the people I just talked about. And online I heard the record was unbelievable. I heard the numbers were unbelievable.”

Although White House Secretary Kayleigh McEnany weighed in on Trump’s reaction to the rally, Tuesday’s remarks are his first public statements about the rally’s turnout.
In the days leading up to the rally, Trump and his campaign manager Brad Parscale touted more than 1 million people signing up to request tickets to the rally.
However, the Tulsa Fire Department said an estimated 6,200 ticket holders attended the president’s rally.
