As a series of new polls find that President Donald Trump is trailing former Vice President Joe Biden (D) in several key swing states, his campaign is preparing to begin holding physical events again.

A spokesperson for Trump Victory told The Hill, “Starting next week, Trump Victory field teams will resume in-person volunteer activities and campaigning where states allow.”

“Just as Trump Victory was able to transition to virtual campaigning in less than 24 hours, our teams across the country will seamlessly adapt again just as efficiently,” they added.

The campaign said it would hold in-person campaign training sessions in states where such gatherings are allowed under coronavirus restrictions.

As the coronavirus began spreading through the country, Trump and his campaign stopped holding physical rallies and other events over fears of the virus spreading.

But as the coronavirus shutdowns led to a collapse in economic growth and more than 40 million Americans filing for unemployment, Biden has opened up one of the steadiest leads over an incumbent president since the beginning of scientific polling.

A new Fox News poll found that Biden leads Trump in the crucial states of Ohio, Arizona, and Wisconsin.

Trump has said that he would like to get back on the campaign trail. Last month, he said he believed it would be a disadvantage if he could not hold physical rallies before the election.

“I hope we’re going to be able to get the rallies back before the election,” he told the New York Post.

“I actually think it’s very important. I think that would be a big — a big disadvantage to me if we didn’t, if we couldn’t have the rallies back,” he added.

However, it is unclear when the president will start holding rallies again.
