President Donald Trump is firing back at Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) over his criticism of the government’s response to the coronavirus response.

In a fiery letter to Schumer, released by the White House on Thursday night, Trump blasted Schumer for his call for the appointment of another official to head up the government’s coronavirus response.

“Thank you for your Democrat public relations letter and incorrect sound bites, which are wrong in every way,” the letter read.

It continued to note that Vice President Mike Pence is leading the government’s response to the outbreak and adds, “He has done a spectacular job.”

After ripping into, what as he said is New York’s unpreparedness for the outbreak, Trump turned his fire on Schumer and accused him of focusing on impeachment instead of his constituents.

“If you spent less time on your ridiculous impeachment hoax, which went haplessly on forever and ended up going nowhere (except increasing my poll numbers), and instead focused on helping the people of New York, then New York would not have been so completely unprepared for the ‘invisible enemy.’”

Check out Trump’s letter below:

“You have been missing in action, except when it comes to the “press,” Trump continued as he accused Schumer of not doing enough to help his home state.

“I’ve known you for many years, but I never knew how bad a Senator you are for the state of New York until I became President,” he added.

Trump’s letter comes as Democrats have called for a more robust response to the coronavirus response.

Additionally, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) announced the establishment of a committee to investigate the coronavirus response, as IJR has previously reported.

Trump also suggested that the impeachment effort, led by Congressional Democrats, was responsible for the slow response. However, Pelosi has dismissed that suggestion and argued that it is an “admission” that Trump “cannot handle the job.”
