Television host Ellen DeGeneres and Michelle Obama have been trying to keep busy during the coronavirus crisis and in a video that the television star shared on Monday, we learned a little more about what the former First Lady has been doing to cope with the quarantine.
In the call, which was apparently on a speakerphone, Michelle Obama said, “We’re just trying to structure our days. I mean, everybody’s home, the girls are back because colleges are now online so they’re off in their respective rooms doing their online classes. I think Barack is, I don’t know where he is, he was on the phone on a conference call, I just got finished with a conference call.”
Obama added, “We’re just trying to keep a routine going but we also got a little Netflix and chilling happening.”
The former First Lady also mentioned how this has brought her family closer together, saying, “It’s forced us to continue to sit down with each other, have real conversations, really ask questions and figure out how to keep ourselves occupied without just TV or computers and it’s a good exercise in reminding us that we just don’t need a lot of the stuff that we have.”
She continued, “When times are bad, having each other, having your health, we can do with a lot less and I think that’s an important lesson that I want my kids to understand as they get out there in the world … be grateful for what you have and be ready to share it when the time comes.”
Obama added, “We’re just happy that we’re together and everybody is happy and safe.”

Michelle Obama and her husband have been mostly out of the spotlight since Donald Trump took office. Instead, they’ve been focusing on a number of other ventures like entering the podcast business and launching their production company, which recently produced a documentary that won an Oscar.
