With hundreds of millions of people around the globe under lockdown because of the coronavirus crisis, some may feel the world is going down the toilet.

On Wednesday, deputies followed a tractor-trailer off the highway in Guilford County, N.C., due to a reported violation of the state’s motor vehicle law. Deputies initially spotted the vehicle driving on Interstate 40 in Whitsett.

When they pulled off the highway to a warehouse, they determined the tractor-trailer had been stolen and they found about 18,000 pounds of toilet paper in it.

The press release reads:

“After further investigation, it was determined the 53-foot Hyundai dry-van trailer was reported stolen locally and was being utilized to transport nearly 18,000 pounds of commercial bathroom paper products.”

There was toilet paper, paper towels and other commercial products found inside the tractor-trailer.

Capt. Daryl Loftis told the Associated Press that it was a “legitimate cargo going to a legitimate place,” regarding what was found in the tractor-trailer.

The discussion surrounding toilet paper is “fairly sensitive right now,” as the police say, so they are not revealing details about the driver.

There has been no arrest and the investigation is on-going, as the press release reads, but the driver of the tractor-trailer is a suspect in the tractor-trailer theft.
